2017 marked Italian supercar manufacturer with the Prancing Horse sigil, Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary year. They celebrated it in style all over the globe with various driving events, luxury and lifestyle collaborations and a whole gala of fun for it’s owners. On December 10th, 2017, the 70th Anniversary Celebrations came to the capital city of India.
Owners of Ferrari cars showed up at the Claridges hotel in the heart of the city for a meet and greet after which they pranced their way through the entire city before cantering off to India’s only F1 track, the Buddh International Circuit. About twenty-two cars showed up for the event ranging from a 90s 348 to rare sightings such as the 458 Specialé, not to mention quite a few F12 Berlinettas.
Ferrari’s Chief Marketing and Commercial officer, Enrico Galleria said that the 70th anniversary is a great opportunity to look ahead into the future of Ferrari as a brand but at the same time it is a chance to pause and look back the esteemed heritage the manufacturer has.
At the Buddhe International Circuit, a special track day was organised for the owners to get a chance to let their Italian stallions gallop to their full potential. The 5.1km race circuit was made accessible to owners to enjoy their cars to their heart’s content. This was probably one of the biggest gatherings of Ferraris in India. After speaking with an owner we found out that there are about 200-250 cars in the country. 458 Italias, 488 GTBs, California Ts, 430 Modenas and F12 Berlinettas all together took to the track bringing it alive with the distinct sound this iconic supercar. It was a genuine celebration of a great milestone.
Ferrari as a brand returned to India in 2015 after a small hiatus and had officially announced its entry with dealers in Mumbai and New Delhi.
